Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why just once or twice per week for twenty minutes? Is that enough?
It is not that we can get away with just one or two brief workouts per week. When you work out correctly (intensely but safely) you can't workout for very long.
Anything beyond twenty minutes or so and you are just repeating stimulus to the same muscle fibers over and over, thereby potentially increasing your risk of injury as well as your recovery time.
Anything more than twice per week and you are risking overtraining, compromising your immune system, and frankly, wasting time!

I have an injury. Can I still workout at Total Results?
In fifteen years, we have worked with hundreds of clients with herniated discs, artificial knees and hips, rotator cuff injuries, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, and many more injuries.
We are experts in customizing workouts to meet your specific needs and work through or around any injuries or medical conditions.
-
Am I too old to lift weights?
Absent regular weight bearing exercise, we all lose muscle mass every year from our twenties onward. This loss of muscle mass contributes to a lower metabolism, increased body fat, and increases several health risks such as obesity, Diabetes, broken bones and more.
The older we get, the more critical it is to lift weights in order to maintain function and avoid illness and injury. We work with many clients in their seventies, eighties, and even nineties every week and help them have the best quality of life possible for them.

What about Cardio? Does Total Results address my cardiovascular health?
Yes! The program addresses all major muscle groups and, in addition, provides a full cardiovascular workout all in one twenty minute session. In fact, you even get a great aerobic benefit while you are recovering on the way home from your workout.
Additionally, due to the intensity of the routine, skeletal muscles are flushed of their glycogen stores, allowing sugars circulating in your blood to replace them. This enhances your Insulin Sensitivity, something only possible with this type of exercise.
-
What results can I expect and when?
See energy improvements and strength gain commence in a week or two. In five or six weeks, you will start to notice definition you did not have before. In a few months, provided you are nutritionally sound, you will notice your body shape starting to transform. Additionally your resting heart rate and blood pressure will likely improve, as well as possibly your bone density and Cholesterol. Then, you can expect continual, but gradual improvements for years!

I jog when the weather is nice and go to my gym weekly. Isn't that adequate?
Probably not. Jogging does nothing for the lungs, very little for the heart, and only moderately conditions lower body muscles. At the gym, you may not be using the equipment properly or safely or it may be poorly designed equipment.
Also, if you have to wait between exercises or are not able to achieve adequate muscle stimulus, you are largely wasting your time and likely risking injury.
