I am at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro - it was not easy, but I did it! At 19,341 feet Mount Kilimanjaro is the world's highest freestanding mountain - the roof of Africa.
I was a little anxious at the outset. So many stories of altitude sickness - something I was not keen to experience first hand, but was told that there would be affects with the ascent as the body struggles to function with less oxygen.
The company I was with had a comprehensive handbook containing great information on how to prepare physically and mentally for the challenge. Unfortunately the decision to make this trip was rather spontaneous so I didn't have any time to follow their guidelines.
Thankfully I have been a regular Total Results client for over a decade. Over the course of this adventure, I considered how my regular workouts had been my preparation all along.
To summit I would need to have stamina, strong muscles, and increased lung capacity to be able to cope with the demands of the hike when there is less oxygen in the air (I didn't use Diamox - typically taken to help). These are all aspects of my training at Total Results: controlled breathing (check), strong core (check), endurance (check). The breathing techniques I have been trained in prepared me perfectly for the climb into thin air (I suffered no ill effects from the altitude). The ascent was tough, but my stamina and strength enabled me to power through. The descent was difficult on knee joints, but again, I credit my regular workouts with enabling me to descend with little trouble whilst many of my group suffered from knee issues. Recovery was fast.

Total Results Works for Me!
I am a 56-year-old woman, and a breast cancer survivor. I am not super athletic. My motivation is to improve and maintain my fitness level now so I can enjoy a long, healthy, active retirement. I have been a client of Total Results for about two years. I attend my Total Results training sessions consistently two times per week, and I am also pretty good about sticking to my low carb, low sugar diet.
Total Results is a unique fitness experience. I need the accountability of a paid, appointment based program and someone to push me to drive past my initial point of fatigue. I have tried several other programs and while I got results, I found them hard to fit into my busy schedule and I also found that as I progressed, I got injured and then had setbacks.
The reasons I recommend the Total Results program include:
1. It is safe and effective - I am getting the results that I desire without injury. I look and feel fit. I can lift 40-pound grandkids and hold my own carrying heavy coolers. My husband says I look like a teenager from the back (I think that's a compliment!?)
2. It is easy to work the two 30-minute appointments into my limited time. They keep you cool with fans. I like that I don't need to shower and do the hair and makeup thing afterward, so I can go right back to work (They do have showers and free towel service.)
3. It fits my budget; this program is more affordable than an equivalent trainer in a gym that often has you waiting around for your turn on equipment.
4. It's private - I don't like people looking at me and I don't really want to look at other people working out.
5. The staff is well educated, consistent and friendly. There is no turnover of trainers. Tim and Matt are both excellent to work with. They are not intimidating. They tailor my sessions to fit my physical constraints and abilities. I take advantage of their monthly blogs, which have the most current information on exercise and food science.
6. The facility is clean and well air conditioned. It is convenient to get to. Parking is no problem.
There is no excuse not to do this!

I'm a 46 year old woman. I started training with Tim and Matt after my second child when I felt exhausted just going up a flight of stairs. I was able to train throughout my next 2 pregnancies. It's hard to put into words just how extraordinary this weight training method is, especially as applied by Matt Romans. I've always been an athlete and have been working out six hours a week for years, with pretty good results. When I switched to 20 minutes, twice a week at Total Results, I had read up on the science of it so I was hopeful, but still quite skeptical that it could compete with the various weight lifting and "cardio" routines I had done in the past. The program at Total Results didn't just save me more than five hours per week. I was stunned to discover that it gave me greater muscle gains, trimmed my waistline a few inches, decreased my body fat from 16.5% to 10.5%, and took my resting heart rate from 63bpm to 56 bpm! I am a 52 year old self-employed artisan, who has a job that is a daily physical challenge. My projects range from decorative ceiling murals and designs, plaster repairs on celings and walls, to beautifully faux-painted trim, walls, and floors. I have rehabbed through three knee surgeries, a torn and separated bicep, and a double hernia. How? It's very simple: I have used high intensity weight training for the past 9 years to stay in incredibly strong condition. My wife Pam and I started working out again with Matt Romans of Total Results as soon as Covid-19 rules allowed it. With the stress of our jobs, and life in general, the workouts are an important part of keeping our sanity. Being able to do a full workout in 20-25 minutes a week is very convenient and very satisfying. Matt is patient, but keeps us on track and using the correct form to maximize the effort.
